Maintaining your New Year's fitness resolutions:
A recent study from the USA shows how many resolutions are actually maintained as time goes on:
- past the first week: 75%
- past 2 weeks: 71%
- after one month: 64%
- after 6 months: 46%
- after 9 months: 33%
- after 12 months: 31%
From this survey, you can see less than half of the people studied managed to stick with their New Year’s resolutions for more than 6 months – whilst 46% had given up after only 1 month. However, those that managed to stick with their resolutions beyond 9 months maintained their new behaviour and successfully kept their New Year’s resolution.
